Motorheads Bar & Grill was a stop during my trip to Springfield for the Illinois State Fair, and this Bloody Mary was a very pleasant surprise.

It came with a salted rim and a simple but satisfying lineup of garnishes: a sweet pickle, olive, piece of salami, and cheese. The sweet pickle was a little different from the traditional dill I’m used to seeing on a Bloody Mary, but it worked—and we enjoyed it all the same.

The Bloody itself was very good and hit the spot after spending time exploring Springfield and the State Fair. Sometimes a Bloody doesn’t need a mountain of toppings to be memorable, and this one kept things simple while still delivering on flavor.

If you’re visiting Springfield, Motorheads is worth adding to your list, especially if you’re looking for a solid Bloody without all the unnecessary fuss.
