When you travel to certain places, there’s often a particular food or restaurant you “have” to go to. In Kansas City, they are very particular about their barbecue.
There were many places recommended to us, but we checked out Jack Stack and we were not disappointed:
In addition to the delicious sandwich of “burnt ends” (more on that to come) topped with coleslaw and a side of cheesy corn, they also had a special bloody mary on the menu: Jack’s Smokin’ Mary.
We enjoyed this beverage so much that we ordered a second one. What really made this Bloody special, other than the thick, sweet BBQ-sauce flavor, were the burnt-end stuffed olives.
A traditional part of KC BBQ, burnt ends are flavorful pieces of meat cut from the point half of a smoked brisket.

It’s no wonder the Jack Stack mix is sold by the bottle–it’s delicious. Well done, KC. You impressed us so far. We’re big fans.
